Stay safe and I look forward to getting out on the field again soon!
Due to many events cancelling and moving dates, River Sticks opportunities to play are undecided at this time. Please reference the Titans and True Cyclones for summer boys opportunities.
The River Sticks is the name used for co-op CILAX teams. The purpose is to help the various CILAX leagues provide additional playing opportunities as a group, to field teams for all players outside of the regular season, or provide alternate growth opportunities during season. The summer RiverSticks is open to anyone who has played on a CILAX team, and hopes to add other opportunities as the number of players in the Central Illinois area grows. These events have been selected to NOT conflict with other summer opportunities with True Lacrosse and Titans Lacrosse.
The Washington, Dunlap and Bloomington leagues chose these tournaments for the River Sticks based on dates available for a variety of competitive offerings, with at least one tournament at 12U and 14U boys.
Your coach will be one of the CILAX team coaches from any of the leagues, depending on who would like to volunteer to lead the group. Because we are having coaches volunteer to lead the team, we can keep the costs to the minimum to cover the practice field rental, the coach's travel cost, and the tournament entry fee. We will know who the coach will be closer to the practice week. When coaches are known, they will be listed under the ticket description.
Registrations are taken in the order they are received, and anyone from a CILAX team can join. Although all the leagues want to promote competitive play, summer is a difficult time to guarantee player numbers. Therefore, the opportunity is open to anyone who is available to play. Also, since every team needs a goalie, any goalie who played on a league will not pay a registration fee, and only needs a River Sticks jersey. A maximum of 2 goalies would be needed for a team.
Practices will take place at one of the club fields, depending on availability. Team practices will start the first Friday in April. Times will be similar to regular season practices (early evening). Once the regular season ends May 17, additional weekday practices will be added that week to get ready for the May 23rd tournament. All boys going to either or both tournaments are welcome to attend. We will not know the exact days until closer to the tournament, but please leave the week before the event fairly free for 2-3 evening practices.
All interested youth boys are invited to attend the April 1st to tryout for the True Lacrosse Central Illinois Summer Travel Teams!
Not only will players have access to unparalleled training with elite coaches, we'll travel to top tournaments to put our skills up against other competitive programs.
For players who aren't ready to commit to the travel portion of the program but still want to participate in our professional training this summer, we're also offering a training-only option. This gives players the opportunity to grow their game, improve their skills and their confidence, and prepare them for the next step of competing with our travel teams.
See below for all the details on our tryouts and register now!

The first inter-league cooperative Spring Travel Team will play again this spring as the CILAX River Sticks. PLUS we will now offer a 12U team as well! Offered to any 14U/12U player on a boys CILAX league, this spring travel team provides an opportunity for experienced players to develop and compete at a higher level. The players will compete in addition to, and in parallel with, their regular spring CILAX leagues as an additional opportunity for competitive play. Anyone who has played at least one season may try-out, but everyone on the River Sticks team must register on a CILAX 2020 team to participate. The team will compete in the Illinois Boys Lacrosse Association (IBLA) in Chicago, with games taking place either Saturdays or Sundays around the CILAX schedule. B-Silver is the level that the team participated in last season, and is very competitive. The 2020 team is likely to play at the same level, or possibly above depending on evaluations and IBLA ruling.

Due to the limited amount of goalie gear we have, this clinic will also focus on non-contact skills of this position to allow for the most players to participate. Available protective gear may be rotated among players during a portion of the clinic to allow players to experience simulated goalie conditions. All new goalies during our regular season are expected to also play field positions, so learning all skills is necessary.
